Solar Puff Program

Many school age children live in homes without access – or with limited access – to electricity, which is often unstable when available.  This makes it difficult for children to complete homework in the evening or to read for leisure.  ELEVEate provides many children living in this situation with a LED lantern called a Solar Puff – powered by a lithium-ion battery – so they have access to light during the evening hours.  A Solar Puff, which weighs just 2.3 ounces, folds flat when its battery is being charged by a thin solar panel or is not in use.  It pops open easily to disperse light from its ring of LEDs.  A Solar Puff charges in about 4 hours and then provides light for 8 to 10 hours.
